A self-order kiosk does two things a counter cannot: it takes orders while the counter is busy, and it suggests the add-on every time without being asked. Clover’s kiosk does both on the same menu as your Station, which is the reason to pick it over a third-party kiosk if you already run Clover. This page covers the hardware, the cost, and a way to decide.

When it pays
Three numbers decide it: orders per day, the share a kiosk would take, and the ticket lift from on-screen upsells.
| Input | Example counter |
|---|---|
| Orders per day | 300 |
| Share moved to kiosk at peak | 25% (75 orders) |
| Ticket lift on kiosk orders from upsells | $1.50 |
| Added revenue per day | $112 |
| Added revenue per month (26 days) | About $2,900 |
| Kiosk cost | $3,599 plus $34.95 a month |
| Payback | About six weeks on ticket lift alone |
Labor is the second effect. A kiosk taking a quarter of orders at peak is a part-time cashier shift you do not have to staff, or a cashier who becomes an expediter. Many operators value that above the ticket lift.
Where it does not pay: counters with no line, menus with few modifiers, and customer bases that will not use a screen. Some will not; a kiosk beside a staffed register handles both.
Setup notes
- Menu design. The kiosk menu is the POS menu, but photos, item ordering and suggested add-ons matter more on a screen the customer drives. We build the kiosk layout after the POS menu is in.
- Placement. Visible from the entrance, out of the line’s path, with room to stand. Floor stand for open lobbies; countertop frame for counters with space.
- Cash. Kiosks take cards only. A sign directing cash customers to the counter avoids the question.
- Dual pricing. The kiosk displays the card price, since kiosk orders are card-only. Keep it consistent with the counter’s card price.
- Loyalty and gift cards. Available at the kiosk through the same Clover programs as the counter.
Kiosk with the rest of the counter
Typical quick-service layout: Station Duo at the register, one or two kiosks in the lobby, Clover Kitchen Display on the line, and a Flex for line busting at the peak of peak. All on one account and one menu. The quick-service setup and costs are on the Clover for quick service page.
