The number most merchants are looking for is 1-855-853-8340. That is Clover merchant support, and it is staffed 24 hours a day. Before you call, it helps to know which questions Clover can answer and which ones only your processor or dealer can, because a large share of calls to Clover end with “you need to contact your merchant services provider.” This page sorts that out and answers the ten questions that come up most.

The ten questions merchants call about
1. How do I refund or void a sale?
Void before the batch closes; refund after. On the device: Transactions, find the payment, then Void (same day, before batch) or Refund (full or partial, after settlement). Voids never hit the customer’s statement; refunds post in a few business days. Full steps on Clover refunds and voids.
2. The printer is not printing
Check paper (2 1/4-inch thermal, loaded with the roll feeding from underneath), then open Diagnostics on the device home screen: printer status, Clear Queue, Retry Print Jobs. For a kitchen printer, Register, then Devices, then Test Print or Refresh Connection. Power-cycle the printer and the device. Full steps on Clover troubleshooting.
3. The device says offline or will not connect
Check the router first; most “Clover is down” calls are Wi-Fi. Switch a Flex or Mini to LTE. Station: check the Ethernet cable and the Wi-Fi settings under Setup. If offline mode was enabled, you can keep taking cards under the limit. Details on Clover offline mode.
4. When does the batch close and when do I get paid?
The batch closes automatically at the time set on your account, usually nightly; you can also close it manually under Transactions or Closeout. Card deposits typically arrive the next business day after batch. Cash and tips are not in the deposit. If a deposit is short, compare the batch report to the deposit and call your processor, not Clover.
5. How do I add or change a menu item or modifier?
Inventory app on the device or dashboard: add the item, set price, tax and category, attach modifier groups. Modifier groups are built once and attached to many items. Changes sync to all devices in a minute or two. Steps on how to use Clover.
6. How do I add an employee and control what they can do?
Employees app: add the person, assign a role (Employee, Manager, Admin or custom), set a PIN. Permissions for voids, refunds, discounts, drawer opens and reports live on the role. Time clock is a setting. Steps on how to use Clover.
7. How do I adjust a tip after the sale?
For sales closed with a printed slip, open Transactions, select the payment, Add Tip, enter the amount, before the batch closes. After the batch, the tip cannot be added. Customer-screen tips are captured at the sale and need no adjustment.
8. A card was declined, or tap is not working
A decline is the issuing bank’s answer, not the device’s; try chip or ask for another card. Tap failures: hold the card flat over the reader area on the customer screen or Flex for two seconds; check that NFC is enabled and the screen is clean. If every tap fails, restart the device. If every card fails, it is connectivity. Details on Clover troubleshooting.
9. The screen is frozen, or the device will not turn on
Station and Mini: unplug the power, wait ten seconds, plug in. Flex: hold the power button until it restarts; if the battery is dead, dock it for ten minutes first. A device that repeatedly freezes needs a support case for replacement, which your dealer handles. Steps on Clover troubleshooting.
10. How do I get my daily sales, tips and tax reports?
Reporting app on the device or dashboard: Sales Overview by day, Tips by employee, Taxes, Items, Payments by tender. Export to CSV from the dashboard. For automatic posting to QuickBooks, see Clover QuickBooks integration.
The eleventh question: why did my rate go up?
Because the processor raised it, with notice in the statement footer. Clover cannot see your pricing. Send the statement to your dealer, or to us, and get the effective rate and every fee explained. The method is on the statement guide.
