The Mini is the Clover we place most often for businesses with one register and a small counter. It runs the same software as the big Station, takes every card type, prints receipts, and costs $849 list instead of $1,899. This page covers what it does, where it falls short of a Station, and the three ways it gets deployed.

Three ways to deploy it
1. The only register. Coffee shops, juice bars, bakeries, salons, barbers, dry cleaners, small boutiques, food counters, service front desks. Add a cash drawer through the hub if you take cash. The customer taps on the Mini’s screen, which faces them when you turn it or sits on a swivel stand.
2. Customer-facing device for a Station Solo. The Solo has no customer tap. A Mini beside it becomes the customer’s screen for tap, tip, signature, receipt and the dual pricing display. This is how a bar or service station gets Duo-like function from a Solo.
3. Second lane. A Duo at the main counter and a Mini at a second register, both on the same account, same menu, same reporting.
Mini vs Station Duo
| Mini | Station Duo | |
|---|---|---|
| Screen | 8 inch, one screen (turns toward customer) | 14 inch merchant plus 8 inch customer |
| Cash drawer | Add through hub | Included |
| Barcode scanning | Handheld scanner through hub | Scanner built into merchant screen |
| Offline payments | Supported | Station line built for continuous connection |
| Footprint | Small | Large |
| Price | $849 | $1,899 |
| Best for | Single-register counters, small retail, cafes | Restaurants, bars, barcode retail, busy counters |
A common mistake is buying a Duo for a coffee shop. The Mini does the job, and the money saved covers a year of software.
Offline mode
The Mini supports Clover’s offline payment queue. Enable it in the dashboard under payments settings, set a per-transaction limit, and during an outage the Mini stores transactions encrypted and submits them when the connection returns. Two cautions: enable it before you need it, and remember that offline transactions are not authorized until they sync, so a declined card is your loss. The LTE radio is the better first line of defense. Details on the Clover offline mode page.
Cost through a dealer
Placed at no charge for qualifying merchants, or purchased outright; never leased. Software at Clover’s published plan prices. Processing at $0 under dual pricing or on interchange-plus for merchants who want one posted price. A cafe on a Mini doing $22,000 a month keeps roughly $8,400 a year under dual pricing versus clover.com’s 2.3% + 10¢; the worked example is on the dual pricing on Clover page.
