Clover Dining is the reason full-service restaurants choose the Table Service plan. It turns the register into a floor plan, tracks every table and seat, paces the kitchen, and splits checks the way guests actually ask for them. This page covers what it does, how it runs across devices, and when a restaurant does not need it.
What Clover Dining includes
Floor plan. Drag-and-drop layout of your dining room with multiple sections (main room, patio, bar, upstairs), tables sized and shaped to match, and server assignment by section.
Table status. Each table shows whether it is open, seated, ordering, served, paying or needs attention, with seat time and course number, so a manager reads the room from the station.
Seat-level ordering. Items assigned to seats, so the kitchen knows position and the check splits cleanly.
Coursing. Appetizers, mains, desserts assigned to courses and fired in sequence. Servers fire the next course from the table screen; the kitchen sees only what is fired.
Split checks. By item, by seat, by percentage, evenly, or any combination, with items moved between checks. Each check pays separately with its own tip.
Bar tabs. Open on a name or a pre-authorized card, add rounds, transfer to a table, close with tip.
Transfers. Move a table to another server, merge tables, move guests.
Payment at the table. On a Flex, the server presents the check, the guest taps, tips and gets a receipt at the table. Dual pricing shows both totals on the Flex before the tap.
Devices it runs on
| Device | Role in Dining |
|---|---|
| Station Duo | Server station or host stand; floor plan view; guests pay face to face when needed |
| Station Solo | Staff-only server station; payment on Flex |
| Flex | Tableside ordering, coursing, payment, receipts |
| Mini | Secondary station, bar terminal |
| Kitchen Display or printers | Tickets by station, coursing respected |
A typical layout is a Duo or Solo at the server station, one Flex per two servers, KDS or printers on the line. The device choice for the station is on Station Duo vs Solo vs Mini.
Who needs it and who does not
| Restaurant | Plan |
|---|---|
| Full service with servers and table numbers | Table Service (Clover Dining) |
| Bar with a dining room and servers | Table Service |
| Bar at the rail only, tabs | Counter Service |
| Fast casual, order at the counter, food run to tables | Counter Service |
| Cafe, coffee, quick service | Counter Service |
The $30 a month difference is not the reason to choose; the floor plan and seat-level features are. A counter-service restaurant on Table Service pays for a floor plan it never opens.
Setup notes
Floor plan built from a sketch before install day. Sections mapped to servers. Courses defined on the menu (which items default to which course). Printer or KDS routing by station. Tip settings for tableside on Flex. Pre-authorization enabled for bar tabs. Staff training by role: servers on the Flex flow, host on the floor plan, managers on transfers and voids. The full install sequence is on Clover setup and training.
Cost
